About Us
Incorporated in October 2008, the founding members saw the need for an organization that provides our residents and businesses with ways to support the community through the arts and through parks improvements. No other organization to do either of these two things existed in Redford Township.
Through our involvement in the Parks and Recreation Commission, we learned about accessible design and saw the need for this in our community. We also learned about the difficulty of funding capital improvements in tough economic times. We found ourselves going to other communities seeing great parks they had built and knew we wanted that here in Redford. We wanted capital improvements to Redford Township parks so that they could be accessible to all residents regardless of ability, and so that they inspired people to get out and be active.
Part of the underground in Redford is our artists. When we started to look around, we found so many people who were musicians, sculptors, writers, actors, directors and film makers and even more people who enjoyed those things as hobbies. We knew that we wanted to have places both to participate and appreciate these. Some public and private venues for this existed in community festivals, concerts in the park, the library and our schools, yet more was needed.
Thus with all the opportunities, energy and ideas, the founders came together to form this organization.
