The Redford Parks and Art Conservancy (RPAC) supports and promotes the arts, and improvements to parks in Redford Township. We envision a healthy, connected community-a place where people can be active in local parks regardless of their ability, a place where people have high-quality public spaces to recreate, relax and connect, and a place where we can express ourselves creatively and enjoy the creative expression of others.
This organization is a place for our residents, businesses and friends to converse, plan and act to create a inspiring, accessible parks and to provide opportunities for our residents to participate in and enjoy the arts. To this end, we are here to bring people together who want to do more. Join us as a volunteer at events, a committee member who works on planning and making our projects happen or someone who helps raise money to make it all a reality.
Community-Led Design in parks
A community conversation about what we need and what we value is essential to parks that work for the people. Our organization brings together the ideas of different groups in the community, from skateboarders to seniors, to find out what they want in their parks. We research good-design and true ADA accessibility for parks. These actions provide assistance to government leaders so that citizens are truly included in the planning of parks improvements.
Creative Community
Creative communities inspire people. Our focus on the arts will inspire people to participate and to enjoy the people and the space around them. With so many forms of expression- music, painting, sculpture, poetry, dance, theatre, and more, art can be both of the individual and of the community. At the Redford Parks and Arts Conservancy, we are offering a new approach to how Redford experiences the arts. We are here to provide programming that promotes participation in and appreciation of the arts (writing, visual arts, film, music and theater). This includes workshops for youth and adults, lectures/speakers, and events that feature the arts-in particular, we hold an annual interactive arts festival in the township. Over time, we want to increase the visibility of the arts in the township through public works and the addition of a community arts house in which programming can occur.
The money and people make it happen
Without people and money, all these are simply good ideas. This organization actively seeks out people to get involved, and has created a sustainable fundraising plan. Whether giving time or money, your contribution matters.
The organization has no paid staff and works to use resources with the greatest responsibility so that the maximum amount of money can go to:
1) adding equipment, greenspace, gardens and accessibility to our parks
2) offering arts programming, projects and events the township
Our fundraising efforts lessen the burden on the Township government to pay for the cost of improvements to Redford township parks. We raise money through donations, fundraising events and grant writing.
